Creative Muvo Slim 128

I've been meaning to get myself an Mp3 player for quite some time now and so I got myself the "Creative Muvo Slim 128mb" earlier this month from the Times Audio Visual exhbition at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.

To start off with, it was a pretty cool exhibition, I saw some electronics there I never knew exhisted, I saw some pretty awesome deals on laptop PC's, speakers and Cellphones, but ofcourse, I was there for the MP3 player :) I saw the Muvo slim model advertised in the papers the day before so I got online and started reading the reviews on this piece. They were all very positive, and it was being introduced with a great price and so I was pretty keen to have a look at the Muvo slim.

So I land up at the Creative stall and I find the Muvo slim on display outfront, with these silly chicks pretending they know stuff about the players! I saw at, had a look at the USB cables and heard a sample music piece and I knew this was the piece I wanted. I went upto the 6th floor to experience a Creative home theatre display, and it was just AWESOME. Told the guy there, if I had to buy this, I'd need to get a nw home first! Anyways, so the show's over and I'm coming out and these girls who're helping out are coming into the room and one of them is totally checking me out with a look on face that says "Take me" (Guys, ya know the look, right?) so I'm thinking, I get to take a Mp3 player home AND get hit on by a girl, is this the best exhbition ever or what???

Anyways, the real reason for this post was to add a user review for the Muvo Slim hopingsomeone can benefit from it, the way I did by reading all those other reviews. So here goes..

The Muvo slim is small, slight and unassuming. It's smaller in real life, smaller than the palm of my hand, and ohh so slim, as you can see from the picture. I like the black and silver combination, and I like the backlight on this piece, it's a bright blue, the brightness can be adjusted but at night when I'm sleeping with the piece on, the backlight does hurt my eyes a bit.

So, what are the cool things I like about this Mp3 player? Well, to start off with, the sound on this thing is amazing, my mp3's sound completely different on the Muvo than on my PC, I like the interface on this thing, it is very intuitive. I like the fact that the FM reception is crystal clear, that the FM presets are easy to create and the FM recording is pretty good too.

The equaliser on this thing isn't as good as I'd hoped it to be, I suppose it's adequate, it's not something I use much at all, the amount of fiddling you need to do to get the equaliser just right is a lot so it's just too much of a bother. I love the voice recording, it's pretty clear and good.

The installation for the Muvo Slim is very easy. I have Win 98 on my PC so I needed to install the drives given on a CD but I heard it just shows up as an external drive on Win XP. Unlike other Mp3 players, the Muvo slim doesn't plug in straight to your USB drive, it connects with the help of a USB cable, I'm happy with this because I don't actually have any room behind my CPU to plug in a Mp3 player so the cable suits me just fine. I was given a portable USB charger free with this piece but I'm not using that, I use the PC to recharge the batteries. I'm a little surprised, but the battery power on this isn't all that great. Though I've never runout yet, it reaches 60% from 100% in no time.

All in all, this piece looks great, plays crystal clear music and it fits nicely in your palm, it looks pretty awesome with the black case you get it in. The case could do with a slit for the belt, but there isn't so you actually have to carry it around or put it in your pocket. The one thing I HATE about the Muvo Slim are the headphones Creative supplied with them, they are the worst headphones I have ever worn, they literally hurt your ear, thankfully this can be changed!

So, thats that, overall a superb Mp3 player, I am totally happy with it, although i bought the 128 version and not the 256, I get about 35 Mp3's on it, which suits me just fine. After having played with this extensively for 2 weeks now, I can safely say I made a good choice with the Creative Muvo slim 128mb!!!
