Goodbye 2004

The evening sun has almost set for the final time in 2004 as I write this. This year is finally coming to an end. It's a year I'd like to wipe out of my memory. Many incidents and episodes throughout the year have kept me from blogging as much as I would have liked to this year. I'm trying to think of positives things that have happened to me this year, I'm sad there have been very few.

I've been practically on my own this entire year. I've grown out of the shadow of my brother, I've handled a lot of stuff on my own, I feel more independent and free in a bizarre sort of way. Ofcourse at the beginning of 2004, I had no idea I would be here typing out a goodbye message for 2004, things just didn't turn out the way they were meant to be, the people who're responsible for ruining my year only know too well how well they've screwed me over.

I have many hopes, dreams and wishes for 2005. I'm not going to stick out my neck and pray that they all come true, I believe that will jinx things up for me, God knows I could do without another 2004.

This year has been one of the most toughest to deal with for me, mentally more than anything else. The year went away pretty fast, it had a dream beginning, we could not have asked for it to start any better than it did but things started taking a turn for the worse right after my birthday, February 18 2004 is a date I will never forget. The episodes after that have taught me a cruel lesson. I've learnt who my friends are, who my enemies are and the enemies who are disguised as friends.

As this year comes to an end, I am in a bitter, sad mood. This is going to be very different from other new years. In many ways this year has been a year of many firsts so it is only right that it should end this way too.

I hope this years been a good one for you, and I pray that the coming new year is filled with many joys and success for you.

4th December 1994

I remember this day 10 years ago. I was looking forward to 4th December 1994 very impatiently. It was the day that the cricket match between England and Australia would be played in the World bSeroes Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground, and it was going to be televised live for the first time on Star Sports. It was just 18 months or so since we started watching and playing cricket, I was fascinated by World Series Cricket in Australia, I'd only seen colourful photos of the same in Magazines that I'd collect so eagerly. To be able to watch a WSC match live on television was all I could ask for 10 years ago, it was like a dream come true. I bunked school that day, I also got my good friend Atul to bunk that day too. I was probably the more eager of the two but what the heck, Atul idolised me and if I bunked that day, it must've been for something worthwhile.! So we greedily watched every ball of the match that day, even meeting up and playing some "Corridor Cricket" during the break. Australia went on to win that match easily, and they've dominated the game and other WSC contests the same way ever since. We watched many many many more WSC games on the TV since but this was the first one ever and I get a warm, fuzzy feeling thinking about the day, thinking about how carefree and innocent we were at age 13. A simple cricket match on TV was enough excitement for a few days, kids these days have wayy too much cricket on TV and it's kinda lost it's novelty now, I'm glad I was part of an era when we appreciated cricket matches when they weren't played everyday. Really Glad.

Update on Life

Not much going on in my life at the moment, I'm not sure I can enter much on here. Things've pretty much come to a standstill, I've had a bad cold for the past few days so no walks on the beach for me for a few days :(

Just found out my friend Amjad's bagged a job in Dubai. He's been wanting to for quite some time now, homestly it's overdue, I'm surprised it took him this long, he should be outta the country in just over a month so that'll be another goodbye. Bobby says he might come down for a visit in January. So I'm hoping it'll be an interesting month :)
